My Hobbies & Interests
Star Frontiers
This is probably my main hobby right now in the little free time I have. Star Frontiers is an old 80's era role playing game that I played as a kid got reinvolved with about two years ago. It's been out of print since 1985 but still has small solid fan base that has seen a resurgance over the past few years.
I've become quite involved in this communnity. I run a fan site, The Star Frontiers Network, primarily devoted to hosting on-line play-by-post games. At this site I'm currently running two games. The first is an advanced campaign where the PC's are troubleshooters for a small merchant company. The second is a strategic starship board game taken right out of the core spaceship rules.
On the player side, I'm playing in several on-line games, The two most active are Space Rats and Dominion. Additionally, I'm playing in the Lost Worlds, New Frontiers game.
You'll also find me lurking around on the forums at the StarFrontiers.org and StarFrontiers.us websites. On all of these sites I live under the handle of Terl Obar, the name of my original SF character back when I was a kid.
My final bit of Star Frontiers involvement is as the Layout/Production Editor of the Star Frontiersman Magazine, a fan magaine devoted to the Star Frontiers game. The Star Frontiersman was originally started by Bill Logan but he has pass the reins off to the community.
